Event Details

We are running the marathon in aid of “Aoibheann’s Pink Tie”. They have provided invaluable support to our friend Sarah, her husband Ambrose and their beautiful daughter Millie. Please take the time to read below how this amazing charity has helped and supported them over the last few months. Thank you. Yvonne and Sinead x

“Aoibheann’s Pink Tie”- The National Children’s Cancer Charity have been a light in the dark to our family over the past 5 months since our precious daughter Millie, 3 years old, was diagnosed with Wilm’s Tumour- a rare form of kidney cancer. It is difficult to describe the trauma, anxiety and worry experienced during her initial diagnosis and treatment. It is also difficult to describe the experience of being on St John’s Paediatric Oncology Ward in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. This is where Aoibheann’s Pink Tie come in. Practical support at a time when it is needed most. We will never forget their help in modifying Millie’s clothes to accommodate “Freddie”- the Hickman Line through which her chemotherapy is now regularly administered. They provide emergency financial support on a case by case basis to parents suddenly unable to work due to the demands a paediatric diagnosis places on a family. We have experienced firsthand how valuable having accommodation as close to your child’s hospital bed as possible is during extended stays in Crumlin, due to only one parent being permitted to stay with their child overnight. That’s why funds are so badly needed as the recently purchased “Aoibheann’s Pink Tie House” is renovated for this purpose. We are so indebted to this charity for helping our family in our hour of need. Please support our dear friends Yvonne and Sinead as they run the Dublin Marathon for Aoibheann’s Pink Tie. Many thanks- Ambrose, Sarah and Millie Conboy.
