KOLORS FOR KOLKATA
The Hope Foundation is teaming up with some of Ireland's most prolific and talented creatives for a very special streetart project in Kolkata, India entitled "Kolors for Kolkata".
FUNDRAISING
Each artist is to fundraise €2,000 for the project.
ABOUT HOPE FOUNDATION
HOPE is an Irish registered charity dedicated to promoting the protection of street and slum connected children and slum communities in Kolkata. HOPE provides protection, care and support to some of the most vulnerable and underprivileged people in India. By providing access to healthcare, counselling and education, HOPE ensures that street connected children can enter adulthood equipped with the tools and support they need to live healthy and happy lives and thus giving them an opportunity to lift themselves out of the abject poverty that they have been born into.
HOPEs vision is to work towards “a world where it should never hurt to be a child”.
The five street artists involved: Vanessa Power (Signs of Power), Finbar McHugh (Finbar247), Shane O Malley (Shane O Malley Art), Ciara McKenna (Keyrogue) and Aches will travel to Kokata in Mid November and create original artwork in some of the 60 plus projects supported and funded by The Hope Foundation. Photographer Julia Dunin will be travelling with the street artists documenting the project and taking portraits of children and staff of HOPE
PROJECT MISSION
The mission of this project is to enhance the environs, (both inside and outside), of the protection homes and facilities supported by The Hope Foundation in Kolkata, through the creation of positive and uplifting artworks. Those the artists may differ in styles they are bound by their mutual focus on colour and their ability to transform spaces. The outcome of the project will be raising awareness of and much needed funds for the work of The Hope Foundation.
The artists will not only engage in providing these interactive artworks in Kolkata, but will do so in collaborate with local street artists; local HOPE staff who are delivering health, education and child protection programmes to Kolkata’s street and slum communities, and with the direct beneficiaries of HOPEs work.
WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO ?
The artists have kindly agreed to take a fortnight out of their busy schedules to be of service in Kolkata and will cover the costs of their own flights, visas and personal expenses. Your donation will cover their accommodation and transport while in Kolkata along with the materials and insurance for the project itself. Your gift will also include a direct donation to the HOPE projects.
Please help us by giving whatever you can using the 'Donate' button. The more people that know about this, the greater the impact, so please also spread the word by sharing our page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
