Thank you for taking the time to visit our fundraising page on iDonate.ie. As part of our joint school and charity fundraiser supporting Hugh's House, Caherleaheen NS and Parents Association are hosting a Gourmet Spring Grill on Friday, March 13th in the delightful setting of the Pavilion at Ballygarry House Hotel, Tralee. Donations made to this fundraising page shall be shared equally between the registered charities Hugh's House (Dublin) and Caherleaheen NS (Tralee, Co Kerry).
Hugh’s House charity, located on the doorsteps of both Temple Street and The Rotunda hospitals, provides free accommodation for the families of children requiring long-term hospital care. The charity was founded almost five years ago by Ade Stack & Martin Curley following the loss of their baby boy Hugh.
Over a period of months, Ade & Martin witnessed the insurmountable challenge faced by parents, whose newborn is critically ill, in trying to secure a place to stay for several months or more. Hugh’s House provides this. Parents can be with their child.
Our commitment to raising funds for Hugh’s House comes from our wish to show our heartfelt support for Jenny Pye & Alex O’Donovan whose daughter is in Senior Infants in the school. Jenny & Alex have stayed at Hugh’s House for over a year now since the birth of their son Jake in 2018. Jake was born with Omphalocele which means a number of his internal organs were outside his body at birth. Jake is still in Temple Street. Jenny and Alex have never left Jake’s side in Temple Street. This was their firm resolve from day one. Their very difficult journey has received considerable local and national media coverage and both their story, and their recognition of the role Hugh’s House in supporting their family, has captured the hearts of many.
We are embracing this opportunity to bring together many communities, locally and beyond Kerry, who wish to acknowledge the tremendous support and comfort Hugh’s House has provided to, not just the family in question, but to many, many families over the past five years.
