The Thursday of Galway Races, traditionally known as Ladies Day will take place behind closed doors this year. Knowing that there will be many disappointed ladies and gentlemen this festival season, Galway Autism Partnership (GAP) and Down Syndrome Galway (DSG) have partnered to run a fun and fashionable online fundraiser.
This virtual Ladies Day takes place from the comfort of your own home; simply dig out your best frock or suit, straighten your hat, shine your shoes and smile for the camera. Once you have donated using the iDonate link, all you have to do to enter is direct message @galwayautismpartnership or @downsyndromegalway with your photos.
‘GAP is delighted to partner with Down Syndrome Galway for this online event’ said GAP Coordinator Aisling Colreavy. ‘Because of the ongoing restrictions, community fundraising has becoming extremely challenging for local charities, so we are so pleased to partner with an organisation doing fantastic work to raise much needed fund.’
These two charities aim to improve quality of life for their respective communities; GAP supports autistic people and their families, while DSG provide information support and friendship to people with Down Syndrome and their families living in Galway city and county.
Both charities rely on fundraising and donations in order to fund their work in the community.
Categories such as ‘Best Dressed Lady’, ‘Best Dressed Family’ and ‘Best Hat’ are sure to satisfy the fashion-forward amongst us, while those with a more relaxed sense of style will love ‘Mad Hatters’ and ‘Best Dressed Teen’.
Details of all categories can be found online, along with a fabulous selection of prizes from local businesses.
A winner will be chosen on Thursday 30th July and you can keep up with the fashionable entrants by following Galway Autism Partnership and Down Syndrome Galway on social media.
On your marks, get set, GO!
