For those of you that don't know me or my family, we lost our Michelle to cancer 5 years ago in 2016. During her illness and afterwards Cancer Care West were a huge support to me and our two girls. At the end of my first Galway Bay Swim I said "if it wasn't for Cancer Care West I would have descended into a bottomless pit of despair" and that still holds true. I cannot thank them enough for their support.
Five years on and my skipper Brian Martyn and family have agreed for the 4th time to guide me safely across the bay. Niall Murphy has also agreed, for the 4th time to crew for me. While Brian will be steering the course, Niall will be checking on progress, organising my feeds and providing live video reports from the swim.
Cancer Care West have to contend with a virtual bay swim this year due to Covid-19. I feel very privileged to be able to do this bay swim in its entirety, privileged to have Brian and Niall's help, privileged to be healthy and fit enough to do this swim and give back to Cancer Care West.
Covid-19 has been very difficult for many and while I am asking for donations to Cancer Care West, I am asking only if you can afford it.
