The Mizen to Malin Challenge takes place on the 1st July 2013. Approx 60 cyclists will cycle over five days from one end of the country to the next. We are primarly raising funds for LARCC National Cancer Retreat & Support Centre. I have been also granted permission to raise aditional funding for Jack Kavanagh, a 20yr old who has suffered a spinal injury that has left him paralysed from his upper chest down with limited use of his arms. I followed Jacks story from the onset and have nothing but respect for the eternal optimism and determination that he has displayed since his challanging ordeal began. With every cent that he recieves in funding his quality of life will improve through better logistics and physical aid. I know that if he can get out and live as close as possible to a normal life then he will inspire and motivate everyone he encounters.
I myself hope to promote a more active lifestyles in people of all ages and develop awareness that the majority of us need to get out and not take for granted the physical attributes that we have. In saying this I am still struggling to finish every practise cycle I go out on....but im getting there- very slowly but surely.
