On 18th July 2014 three friends from county Limerick, will undertake a journey of some 16,000 kilometers to raise funds for the ‘Midwest School for Hearing Impaired Children’ in Limerick city.

The journey being undertaken will involve travelling from Limerick city to Ulaanbaatar in eastern Mongolia. During our travels we will pass through 17 countries. Some well know such as England, Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria and Turkey to those less visited by Europeans Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan……

To carry them on their way they have each a Honda 125cc motorcycle. Each member of the team has over ten years of motorcycle riding and maintenance experience. However the countries through which they will travel are unchartered territory for us. They are setting off with no support vehicles and will be solely dependent on what equipment they can carry and the generosity of people along the way. Their journey is expected to take 6 weeks; accommodation during this time for 3 adult males will be a four man tent, cozy….

The funds raised will go towards the annual running costs of the pre-school for hearing impaired children in Rosbrien in Limerick city. Please note all equipment, visas and travel costs are being covered by the participants, none of the monies raised will be used to fund the journey.

You may be asking, ‘What happens to the motorcycles at the end?’

When we arrive in Ulaanbaatar we have arranged to donate the motorcycles to the ‘Christina NobleFoundation’. They would then donate the motorcycles on our behalf to local Mongolian nomads for whom such a vehicle is a life changing gift.
