Hi Everyone,
I am running the Calcutta 10K run which was set up to help homeless youths in Dublin & Calcutta, managed by 2 well known charities - GOAL & THE PETER MCVERRY TRUST.
100% of funds raised by particpants and supporters go direclty to both charities.
GOAL has been actively helping the poorest of the poor in the third world for 37 years. In Calcutta, GOAL quite literally takes children off the streets and gives them food, care, education and most importantly, a sense of love and worth. One 100 euro's goes a long way for instance - In Calcutta it would provide an instant Chlorination system - briinging safe water to familes preventing the spread of disease.
And the Peter McVerry Trust provides a community where individuals can detox from methadone. The facility is extremely important in helping people move away from the reliance on methadone to live a drug free life. One 100 euro will provide a starter-kit for someone entering the programme for the first time.
All proceeds raised go directly to supporting those experiencing homelessness in Ireland and Kolkata through Dublin Simon Community and The Hope Foundation.
