In memory of our precious babies; baby Eanna Eoghan Dalyand baby Sara O'Grady, we are holding a charity/fundraising event on Saturday 5th September 2015 involving a 20k Cycle and 6k Walk/Run in Colemanstown followed that night by Live Music, BBQ, Spot Prizes and a Mini Auction in Burkes Bar.
Our chosen charity is Feleacan (Irish Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Association of Ireland). (www.feileacain.ie)
While no one can take away the pain of losing our babies, during the time we were in Portuincula Hospital and in the weeks that followed, Feleacan were such a great support. Feleacan provide memory boxes to hospitals all around the country. These boxes are given to families who, unfortunately like us, do not get to keep their babies. We cannot explain how precious these boxes are to us. It allowed us to take our babies hand and foot prints. It also contained a pair of teddies, one which we had and one with our baby until we swapped them when we said our final goodbye. Feleacan thought of the little things; things we may not have thought of ourselves at that time and which now mean so much to us.
Feleacan also provided us with a special little cot/crib called a 'cuddle cot', which gave us the gift of more time together with our little ones. We cannot thank Feleacan enough for this as it really helped us to create cherished memories during this most devastating time.
Feleacan also hold regular group meetings for bereaved parents who can meet and support each other through their loss.
None of us had heard of Feleacan until 14 October 2014 and 2 January 2015 and while we wish we were still in blissful ignorance, we absolutely recognise the fantastic work that the charity does and the support it provides to bereaved families. While we also truly wish no other family ever has to go through what we did, we know this not to be true. We can only hope that those families too, will continue to have the support of Feleacan. Feleacan do not receive any state support and therefore, it relies solely on the generosity of people to continue its great work.
We would be so delighted if you/family/children/friends could come along and support a great charity and remember baby Eanna Eoghan and baby Sara with us on Saturday 5th September.
