The 254 km race is across the Sahara desert over 6 days in temperatures over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The longest stage is Day 4, involving a 81.5 km run. Whilst limited water supply is provided along with a place in a tent to sleep each night, the strictly enforced rules of the race require you to be self sufficient, and to carry everything you need on your back back from food to a sleeping bag and medication.
Hugh and Thomas are running this race in aid of Their Lives Matter. This hugely deserving charity is saving children's lives in Dar es Salaam every day, thanks to the amazing work of Irish paediatric oncologist Dr Trish Scanlan and her team there. Every cent raised will go directly to Their Lives Matter. Please give what you can to support this amazing charity which really needs help this year. This will also encourage Hugh and Thomas every step of the way home!
Well done Hugh - You gave a great interview on this recently on the radio!
Amazing work and effort.

About the Cause
We Are TLM
'We Are TLM' represents a group of International organisations with a shared vision and mission: to care for children with cancer in Tanzania. Although registered separately all three work collaboratively with a single purpose. Tumaini La Maisha (Hope for Life) operates from our Hub at Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Their Lives Matter UK and Ireland are our sister NGOs that support with advocacy and fundraising.
