St. Anthony's Special School was established in 1967 in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. Since then hundreds of children with Special Educational Needs such as Mild Intellectual Disabilities, Physical Disabilities or children with Sensory Impairments such as Hearing or Visual Impairments and Autism have been supported and educated by the dedicated, caring and brilliant staff in the school.
The school continues to develop and grow and we are really looking forward to opening our brand new 2 classroom extension in September 2022. We are now raising funds to create 2 new Sensory Spaces in the new building: one to be an Active Room where children can climb, crawl, swing and jump to regulate their energy levels, and another Calm Room with Bubble tubes, mirrors, weighted blankets, soft lighting and interactive projector displays that can soothe and calm children who need that support. The Department of Education built the rooms but we have to kit them out so all help is greatly appreciated as the costs are very expensive for such rooms.
You can find out more about our school on www.stanthonysmayo.ie or by calling us on 094 9022661.
Thank you for your interest and, more importantly, your generous support for our wonderful special pupils.
