Animals In Need

We help homeless/ stray animals, mainly cats and dogs in Co Donegal. Many animals we take in are surrendered by the owner but we save the main amount of dogs from death row in the county pound. We are the only registered charity in Co Donegal who rescues both cats and dogs. we also have a comprehensive T.N.R, programme, trap-neuter-return, of feral cats to improve the animals welfare for feral cats throughout the county.
We are a completely voluntary group, NO-ONE ever gets paid, and as we have no center the animals are all fostered in our own homes till permanent homes can be found.

overview

Animals in Need clg Donegal works on a voluntary basis. We have no shelter, but all foster the animals in our own homes.
We have dedicated dog fosters, most based around the Donegal Town area and our dedicated cat fosters are located throughout Co Donegal, making it easier to cover the whole county.
We have 2 charity stores, Letterkenny and Donegal Town which helps with our running cost but we are over 60% relying on donations

where your money goes

Our overheads are very low having no shelter so all money donated goes towards the care, feed, rehabilitation and rehoming of the animals in our care.

history

Animals In Need clg Donegal was founded in 2006 by a small group of like-minded people in Donegal Town who were individually making an effort to alleviate animal suffering. It is a non profit making organisation. Over the years the group has gotten bigger as more people have become aware of our work and have started helping.

Initially we became involved in fundraising activities to help other animal welfare organisation. However, this was not sufficient to our needs so we had to become a “hands-on” voluntary group, rescuing and re-homing unwanted, injured and abandoned animals.

Some very dedicated member choose to be on our committee which is selected at the A.G.M. or by co-option later, it is a working committee, consisting of a handful of volunteers.
