where your money goes

All money raised by fundraising activities goes in to WALK's Community Project Fund. This fund supports community projects and events that are inclusive and benefit the people WALK support as well as the community. The funding also helps the people WALK to support to achieve their goals, enabling them to access training, education and recreational opportunities.

history

WALK has its roots in the Walkinstown Association which was started by a group of parents and friends in response to a need for community based services for people with intellectual disabilities. The first service opened was a social club originally known as The Sacred in 1967. This service operated from a number of local halls such as Walkinstown Youth Club and the Sisters of Charity school hall and over the years until WALK formally established a dedicated site from where a range of services are now offered.
