We are the Mastersons and we're creating this iDonate page to help raise much needed funds to help us pay for the adaption of our house and equipment needed for our son Zach. Our beautiful boy Zach was diagnosed with Duchene Muscular Dystrophy(DMD) in 2018, when only 3 years old. DMD basically explained, will mean his muscles will deteriorate over time, where he will require a wheelchair permanently to get around and will need round the clock assistance. Zach is 8 now and a great kid, taking it all in his stride. He loves playing with his older brother Fionn and playing computer games and lego. He loves seeing his classmates in school and interacting with them daily. We will need to adapt our house to make life as accessible and comfortable as possible for Zach. Zachs' condition has progressively worsened over the last year, where he has now transitioned into a wheelchair and we feel the time has come to start the house adaption process .The cost of the necessary modifications to our home will place a huge financial burden on our family and unfortunately we are not entitled to any government assistance. Zachwill also require an adapted wheelchair and vehicle to assist him in getting around .For this reason your donations will be greatly appreciated. Zachs dad, Derek, is planning a sea swim, with the help of others on September 2nd. This will entail swimming from Low Rock in Malahide to Lambay Island and back again, approximately 15kms.
