I'm taking part in the Alpine Peaks Challenge which will take place in early July - we are taking on Klein Matterhorn, The Breitorn and finally Bishorn/Pointe Burnaby.

I've chosen to fundraise for Cancer Clinical Research Trust (CCRT) - The Caroline Foundation . The Caroline Foundation has a very specific purpose - The Foundation funds the work of two researchers on Professor Crowns Research Team.    I have been involved with The Caroline Foundation since it was set up in 2013 in the memory of Caroline Dwyer-Hickey.  I am a cancer survivor and was fortunate enough to have sat with Caroline during some of my treatment sessions. Like Caroline I was able to partake in a clinical trial.

The Alpine Peaks Challenge was never on my bucket list!!  It is the brainchild of an experienced Alpine climber Bill Roberts who with Adam Kelly of Pura Vida Greystones (where I attend), decided to lead this initiative to raise funds for The Caroline Foundation for Cancer Research.  Initially I said absolutely NOT but after losing another friend Nicky to cancer, who had encouraged people to support The Caroline Foundation as the cure that wasn’t there for her could be there for someone else if new trials were available, I decided the fear of doing the climb was not a good enough excuse !

All participants doing the Alpine Peaks Challenge are paying their expenses in full.  ALL FUNDS donated go directly to The Caroline Foundation
