Ciunas Centre CLG

Who we are
Open to all Ciúnas Centre is a small, not for profit charity open since 2009. We were founded by a small group of women, all friends, therapists and full-time carers who recognised the need to provide a space offering not only respite from constant caring for loved ones but also to be able to practice their specialist therapies - and so Ciúnas Centre was founded.

What we do
We provide rapid access to affordable (sliding scale therapy fees) and specialist wellness-based therapies and counselling in our fully accessible community-based centre in Feakle. We have a small team of self-employed, fully accredited and Garda vetted therapists offering a wide selection of wellness therapies including Massage techniques, Reflexology, Craniosacral, Reiki, Polarity, Metamorphic, Transformational, Death Doula, Aura-Soma as well as Nutritional and counselling.

overview

A community service open to all in need of self care. We provide holistic wellness therapies and counselling in a compassionate, safe and confidential setting.  Ciunas means 'stillness' and our intention is to reduce stress and increase well being. Therapies are charged for on a sliding scale, based on the client’s circumstances so the ability to pay full rate is not a barrier to accessing services. However, we do ask that clients can afford to pay the full rate do so which enables us to cover our costs and therefore continue to be able to offer affordable rates to those less able to pay.

For further information see our web page. www.ciunascentre.com

We do depend on donations and our own fundraising activities (when allowed) to raise vital funds to keep us open – if anyone can help by doing a fundraiser for us, having a family or group pamper day or if you are a local business that would be willing to either make a donation or to engage our services for employee reward such as the purchasing of vouchers or for a pamper day for your staff or clients then please contact us

where your money goes

Since 2009 uur centre has been run and managed by a small core team of founders and volunteers, so we do not incur any staff costs.  We have self-employed therapists (insured and Garda vetted) offering their expertise at greatly reduced rates enabling Ciúnas to keep what's charged to the client at a minimum.

As a not for profit, all money fund raised, donated (or earnt by those who can afford to pay the full rate for their wellness therapies), goes to funding the lower cost options that we offer to those less able to afford the full rate, meaning we can reach out to those in our comminuy who are often the most in neeed of our services.

history

Back in 2009, the focus was primarily on carers (paid and unpaid), those they cared for and their families;  the elderly, those with intellectual and physical disabilities and those with serious illness. Since then, our client base has continually grown and evolved and it’s important to note that you don’t need to be anyone in particular or have any condition, if you are  in need of some self-care and support, in the short or longer-term, then we welcome you. This is especially important in the times we live in now, dealing with the inevitable physical and mental toll that COVID has brought about.

We also work with other services including Brothers of Charity, Enable Ireland, and Shine who refer and/or bring clients to us for care and support.
