Old Borough National School (PTA)

While our small size has advantages for the children, it comes at a price. Every year we must fundraise to pay for essential services not covered by Department of Education grants to a primary school such as ours.

A key part of this fundraising is the critical contribution provided by the PTA towards the clerical and teaching assistant costs of the school.

overview

Why do the PTA fundraise? Each year the PTA has a
financial commitment to pay €4,000 to the Board of Management. This is a
critical contribution to the Board’s fundraising to make up for the shortfall in
Department of Education grants. We also aim to raise a little more than this to provide fun activities for the children throughout the year that the school cannot always pay for within their budget.

history

We are a small primary school with a Church of Ireland ethos and a strong community base in Swords, County Dublin. The school first opened in 1809 in the building which now houses the Old Borough Pub (JD Wetherspoon) and in 2001 it moved to its present location in a new four classroom school building which was built in the Old Vicarage Orchard, between the river Ward and St. Columba's Church.
