Cancer Support Sanctuary LARCC  is a Cancer Support Centre located in Multyfarnham, Co. Westmeath. At the LARCC Retreat and Support Centre we give psychological & emotional support to people living with cancer and their families from any part of the country. Clients experience complementary therapies and counselling in a peaceful and caring environment run by a fulltime professional staff of nurses, counsellors, therapists & admin staff with the support of a Board of Directors comprising cancer patients, their families, friends and health care professionals.

We assist people with a cancer diagnosis to cope with their illness and enhance the quality of their lives. We see our centre as a place to "Retreat, Reflect and Recover" and we provide a "safe place to talk"

Overview

Unique to LARCC is its Residential / Take a Break Stay - LARCC is the only cancer support Centre in Ireland that runs a residential programme.The purpose of the 2 night residential programme is to take clients on a personal journey of relaxation, reflection and recovery by skilled therapists, nurses and counsellors. The variety of therapies on offer and the ambiance of the Centre provides the clients with the opportunity to discuss issues in a relaxed and homely environment with staff members and other attendees. Nurses are on duty 24 hours throughout the week. All rooms come with en-suite facilities and individuals diet preferences are accommodated. A typical Residential Stay at LARCC consists of the following: Group Work / Process, Counselling, range of Complementary Therapies, Art Therapy, Meditation, Guided Walking, Dietary Requirements catered for by LARCC Chef.This is a well attended service and takes clients from across Ireland.Residential stay full fee is 210pp; this is sometimes paid by the client, however local support groups often pay for the programme for their people to attend and gift vouchers can be purchased on behalf of clients from LARCC, so there are a number of payment options.Please contact the Centre for further details.


Full-time Free Call-in Service - LARCC operates a call in service where people living with a cancer diagnosis and their supporters can avail of cancer support services including one-to-one counselling and/or a range of complementary therapies including Indian Head Massage, Reflexology and Massage  The call in clients are offered a  series of 5 therapy or counselling sessions, arrangement by appointment and which are FREE. After that, we offer a tiered payment system which can be tailored to suit the client. Centre opening hours are Monday to Thursday 9 am to 5 pm.

Breast Care Service - The breast care service at LARCC is available to Private clients and Medical Card holders. This service offers consultation and specialist fitting and supply of Prosthesis, Bra and Swimwear with a large range of stock available. With easy access and ample car parking the LARCC Centre offers a relaxed and homely environment for its breast care clients. The service is delivered by two members of the LARCC team a nurse and a therapist who have undertaken additional specialist training to become consultant fitters.To arrange a consultation with our specialist fitters please contact the Centre.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage “ MLD is a specialist treatment delivered by highly skilled therapists at the centre who will see their clients on a pre arranged appointment basis. Manual Lymph Drainage aims to redirect fluid from swollen areas to healthy lymphatic vessels, transporting it back to the normal Lymphatic system, via gentle, light but precise hand movements applied to the skin.To arrange a consultation with our specialist MLD consultant please contact the Centre.

Group Pamper Days - New to LARCC are Pamper Days where small groups of clients are treated to range of therapies and treatments in the relaxed atmosphere of the Centre. Clients arrive in the morning and are greeted by our therapists and after tea / coffee and homemade scones they are treated to a therapy, e.g. reflexology. A sumptuous light lunch is freshly prepared and served. After lunch there is a session of visualisation & meditation with our therapists before clients enjoy a cup of tea / coffee before departing in the late afternoon. Clients feel refreshed and relaxed for the journey home.Groups who would like to find out more about the Pamper Days should contact the Centre.

Bereavement Support - LARCC offers support to those who are bereaved through either Individual one to one counselling  or there is an option to join a 10 week Bereavement Support group. One to one counselling is available throughout the year and the bereavement courses run at various times throughout the year. Please contact the Centre to enrol for courses or to find out more about bereavement counselling.

All money rasied goes direclty into the provision of free cancer support services by the professional team at LARCC - these support services are available to anybody from the greater midlands area who is living with a cancer diagnosis.
