Online Charity & Non Profit Fundraising Services

Aware was founded in 1985 by Dr. Patrick McKeon and a small but dedicated team of volunteers, many of whom had their own personal experience with depression, or bipolar disorder.

Aware undertakes to create a society where people affected by stress, depression, bipolar and mood disorders are understood, supported, free from stigma, and are encouraged to access appropriate therapies.

Approximately 1 in 10 people, that’s 450,000 people in Ireland, experience depression at any one time, and many more are effected indirectly. It’s estimated a further 45,000 people have a diagnosis of bipolar disorder.

The three pillars of Aware's work are information, education and support.

Please see our website for more information.

We offer support, information & education for people in their community through our free of charge range of services:

  • support line
  • support mail
  • support groups
  • relatives & friends education
  • life skills programmes (online & groups)
  • lecture series
  • senior cycle programmes
  • our website
  • social media channels

Your generosity means that more free-of-charge support, education and information services can be provided for people who experience depression and bipolar disorder, and their families and loved ones.
