Garys Casey’s story 

Gary casey a 37 year old from co Monaghan.
Gary grew up in Castleblayney playing football for Toome GFC and going to school at Our ladies secondary school. He Was a plumber by trade but recession hit and like many others gary made the big move to Perth in 2012 to make a better life for himself. 

Gary had worked really hard and became a supervisor in a mining company. He loved life and socialised when he could with all his friends. 
On the 16th of January 2022 Gary unfortunately broke two vertebrae in his neck (c5 and c6) in a freak swimming accident. This left him with a spinal cord injury. He spent many months in hospital. Undergoing surgery to reconstruct his vertebrae and spending months in rehabilitation.

He is paralysed from the chest down with limited movement in his arms and hands, and no movement in his legs. He requires full-time care with all his daily needs. 
Gary is the most fun, outgoing, generous and hardworking man. He always has a smile on his face , a cheeky comment, a wicked one liner and a positive attitude. Anyone who knows him loves him dearly and he has helped many many people throughout his life. 

 

where your money goes

He is hoping to begin treatment abroad to enhance his independence, improve bodily functions and ultimately return to work at some capacity.

This includes stem cell treatment, and epidural stimulation implantation. This is groundbreaking spinal cord injury treatment centred around an epidural stimulation device. Once implanted the patient learns how to control the device and resulting limb movement. 

Costs for this alone are around 200K.
