Ballinrobe man to lose his locks for Mayo Cancer Support Association

A BALLINROBE man is raising money for a local charity by shaving his beard, which he has been growing since the start of lockdown.
Liam McCormack, a native of Cloongowla, Ballinrobe, has been growing his beard since March 12 having decided at the time that he wasn’t going to shave again until schools re-opened.
In the meantime, another Ballinrobe man, Fergal Loftus, who had been battling an illness for the previous year and a half, passed away in May. As a result of this, Liam decided it would be a nice idea to shave his beard and raise money for Rock Rose House, where volunteers had been of great assistance to Fergal and his family.
Both Fergal and Liam became friends nearly 15 years ago when they completed a Green Certificate in Agriculture with Teagasc in Ballinrobe and shared common interests over the following years.
Rock Rose House (Mayo Cancer Support Association) offers emotional support and practical help to people with cancer, their family and friends. They provide a drop-in centre where people with cancer can access support and information as well as other services. Their aim is to continue to develop and meet the cancer-related needs of the people of Mayo and the locality.
