Teenage girls in Ireland face a specific set of challenges including the societal pressure to look perfect, which leads to low self-esteem, mental health issues and often results in their potential not being realised. In order to ensure that all Irish girls have the skills, tools, and self-esteem they need to achieve their potential, TSP has adopted a three-pronged approach which includes:

1. School workshops and summer camps
2. Online community
3. Events & projects.

Since our launch in 2016, The Shona Project has been succesfully delivering programmes through schools and our online community that are impacting the lives of teenage girls in Ireland

We have built relationships with the girls, their schools, families and communities, providing them with information, advice and a safe place to share their stories. We have inspired girls to treat them selves and each other with kindness, to celebrate their differences, and to challenge the narrow world view of what it means to be a woman. We are succesful because we meet girls where they are, and speak to them in their own language. We don't tell them what to think or how to behave, we just tell them to be themselves, and use their voices as they matter.
