Murroe Wood Park Community Playground

Murroe Wood Park, Main Street, Murroe-Boher, County Limerick

Murroe Wood Park Community Playground

Murroe Wood Park CLG has been awarded funding from the LEADER Rural Development Programme towards the construction of a new, inclusive, playground at Murroe Wood Park. This will replace the existing playground which is closing to facilitate the development of a community hub, plaza and car park at the site.

The new playground will be approximately 615 square metres in size and will include items such as a play bridge, musical panels, inclusive spinner, climbing structures and a zipline. The traffic-free nature of the park, combined with the close proximity of the playground to the community hub (particularly its cafe and toilet facilities) and other amenities will make this an ideal space for families to unwind and enjoy themselves in an outdoor setting.

Thanks to LEADER we are 3/4 of the way towards being able to build this facility. We need to raise another €40,000 to begin construction. This is where you come in. Every little bit helps to achieve this target - be it a fun run, a raffle or a small donation, it all adds up. So please spread the word and help in any way that you can. Together we can make a difference.

Help us fundraise for our new, inclusive, playground at Murroe Wood Park! All support appreciated.

Murroe has been awarded LEADER funding towards the construction of a new community playground. The facility will be larger and more accessible than the current playground, and will be located in the centre of the Murroe Wood Park site, opposite the skatepark. It will include equipment such as a play bridge, cradle swing, musical play panels, climbing structures, wheelchair-accessible spinner and zip line.

Our existing playground will close shortly as construction of the community hub gets underway. Thus the pressing challenge is to raise the remaining funds as soon as possible to minimise the disruption caused by this closure. LEADER will only cover 75% of the playground cost, leaving our community with €40,000 to raise ourselves. We need your help. Whether it's a sponsored walk, raffle, table quiz, cake sale or a small donation, every little bit helps to reach this goal.

where your money goes

All of the money raised will be going towards the matched funding element of our new playground. We were awarded €109,387 from the LEADER Rural Development Programme, which represents 75% of the costs. We need to raise an additional €40,000 in order to commence construction of the facility.

Murroe Wood Park is a new public space that is being developed in the heart of Murroe Village in Co. Limerick. Its purpose is to provide safe, secure, and inclusive exercise and leisure facilities that are accessible year-round and are suitable for a broad spectrum of ages, ability, and fitness levels for the community of Murroe and those who visit it. The facilities are being developed on a phased basis. An Astro-pitch, community skatepark and first section of a looped, multi-access walkway are already in place on the 6-acre site. Phase 3 will begin shortly, and involves the construction of a multi-purpose community hub, plaza and car park. The playground represents the final phase of the project. It will be located in the centre of park, opposite the skatepark. The traffic-free nature of the park, and its close proximity to other amenities in the area, promises to make this a place that can be enjoyed by all.
