In honour of the late Fr David, our dear friend from Tanzania who sadly passed away in June 2020, we are dedicating all fundraising to the Fr. David Education Fund - funding education for students and seminarians in Tanzania.
He had begun an initiative to fund the further education of children in his village. The education of these children means that they will be able to get a job and in turn have money to feed, educate and care for their extended families, ending the cycle of poverty. In 2023 and 2024 we have been blessed to be able to support a seminarian each year to complete their final year in seminary. Without this support they would not have been able to complete their studies.
In order to continue the education of these children and seminarians, we need to raise over €5000 per year.

In the summer of 2018 we organised two 40 foot containers of humanitarian aid to be sent to Fr David to help counteract the poverty in his area. This helped to bring a better quality of life to the poorest of the poor in Tanzania, for the time being.

Fr David worked with the poorest of people in Tanzania where families live in mud huts. Their only possessions are pots for cooking, a large pot for storing water, and a ‘calabash’ for fetching water, one set of clothes per person, hoe, axe, bow and arrow to protect animals (cows) from lions etc. They sleep on cow skins.
The village has a well but people have to walk every day to get water some have to walk 10km and some people live 70km away from the well.
Villagers can grow maize and millet for food but it will only grow if they have enough of rainfall. Families eat only once per day.

Not every family has the luxury of education. The school is too far away for most children to walk to but with your financial support we can complete the education of these three college students so that they can support their extended families with food, clothing and education, eventually breaking the cycle of poverty in their community.
