Galwegians RFC
Galwegians Rugby Club has been a senior rugby club in Galway for almost 100 years and the club's centenary will be celebrated this year in 2023. The club has been active in the local community since its foundation, encouraging young people from all age groups and diverse backgrounds to become active in sport. The club has twenty active teams, both male and female, from mini's right up to senior level. The club encourages past members to remain active in the club and provides a social community for older members, including pre-match lunches, past officer events, etc. Galwegians has encouraged young people from diverse backgrounds to become active in sport for generations. It recognizes that sport and physical activity, particularly in the outdoors, is essential to young people's physical and mental well-being. The club actively encourages participation from across the community, supporting its players with transport, meals, etc. and providing an environment that encourages social interaction. Our club is run 100% by volunteers, including coaches, team managers, bag men, club officers and committees. We are funded largely through fundraising events and these funds are vital in keeping the club alive and active.
