Gortletteragh Central N.S. was established on the current site in July 1971. Previous to this the parish was served by 4 schools: Drimmien N.S., Fearglass N.S., Drumgowna N.S. and Gortletteragh N.S.
These schools were amalgamated into Scoil Chuimhneachain An tEaspaig O’Floinn now known as Gortletteragh Central N.S.
The school was built with government funds and local contributions and was dedicated to the memory of Bishop Thomas Flynn.
The old school on the same campus is now used as a Community Play school. In 2007, the present building was extensively refurbished.
