Wilkinstown Community Centre

Wilkinstown Community Centre is a voluntary led group, for the people, by the people.

We aim to provide the community of Wilkinstown and surrounding areas with a more accessible, affordable, comfortable multipurpose facility to peruse educational, social, economic and leisure activities.

The Centre is used on a daily basis by a variety of groups from toddler groups to active retirement and everything in between, we welcome over 500 people through the doors weekly.

where your money goes

All funds raised go to the development and up keep of Wilkinstown Community Centre - Our Buildings, Amenity Park and Playground.

As a volentery led centre we rely heavily on grants and fundraising to provide you with the best possible facilities.

history

In 1970 Wilkinstown opened its new national school. The school replaced two old schools dating back to the mid 1800’s.

Years later a committee was formed to investigate the possibility of converting the old school into a community hall.

By 1987 it was apparent the old building was inadequate, and a major fundraiser was set in motion to build a brand-new building.

By 1990 a considerable amount of money was raised through a huge community effort and work started in 1992.

In 1996 the community centre Sports Hall we have to date was formally opened.

In 2015 we purchased the 4 acre field adjoining the centre, we got to work on developing the field with a new 3,000sq ft extension, amenity park and playground which opened in August 2022.
