Cork ARC Cancer Support House

Cork ARC Cancer Support Housewas established in 2001 to provide a holistic centre in which people with cancer and their families can find emotional support and practical help.

Cork ARC is a safe haven for people with cancer and their families, where youwill find information, practical help and emotional support free of charge. Whatever stage of your diagnosis or treatment, we believe that no one should have to do italone. Our aim is to provide therapies that complement the medical model, so as to make a difference to the lives of those affected by cancer. Our centres are based in Cork city and Bantry.

All of our services are available free of charge.

overview

Cork ARC Cancer Support House is a nurse led service supported by over 100 volunteer listeners, therapists and counsellors. For 19 years, our cancer support services have been supporting cancer patients, their families and their carers, free of charge.

Our centres are homely, welcoming places where visitors can drop in without an appointment and talk in confidence with one of our trained volunteers. We also provide a free telephone support service and many complimentary therapies designed to relieve the stress of a cancer diagnosis, such as counselling, massage, reflexology, art therapy, yoga, pilates and tai chi.

Our Information & Education Supports offer patients and relatives the opportunity to learn more about topics such as diet, bereavement, lymphoedema, managing hormonal treatments, and prostate cancer. In addition to these services, we provide counselling, support groups and a weekly drop in Hour of Calm meditation session. We have a dedicated Breast Cancer Service where our Breast Cancer Nurse Counsellor meets visitors on a one to one basis and also runs a regular breast cancer support group.

We are open Monday to Friday at our centre in Sarsfield Road, Cork city. Our centre in Bantry, West Cork service is open two days a week, Tuesdays & Thursdays.

We provide a wide range of vital cancer supports, all free of charge, for people whose lives have been affected by cancer and we rely almost entirely on the generosity of our supporters to allow us to continue offering these services free of charge to cancer patients and their loved ones when they need it most.
