Are you aware that there is NO defibrillator that is accessible 24hours a day in the Firhouse area?

We know that there are over 5,000 sudden cardiac deaths in Ireland each year, with over 100 of these being our young people. We also know that for every minute CPR/defibrillation is delayed following sudden cardiac arrest, the chance of survival is reduced by 10%.

There are several AED defibrillator machines located in our community buildings but none that can be easily accessed outside of opening hours. We aim to acquire and install an external AED defibrillator close to the ATM machine at SuperValu. Over time, we hope to have defibrillators that can be easily accessed at various locations around Firhouse.

 

We are hosting a 5-a-side adult World Cup tournament at 11am on Saturday 20th of August in Carrigwood, followed by a raffle in The Speaker Connolly at 8:30pm.

 

We are asking you, our members, and the community of Firhouse to support this endeavour in a number of ways:

 

• Sign up to play in the tournament. Registration is open to ages 17+ and can be completed at the link below. Cost of entry is €120 per team of 6/7 players.Places are limited so don’t delay and there will be a trophy for the winners!

• Support the fundraising attempt by entering our raffle with great prizes to be won. Tickets can be purchased from the link below and cost €10 each. All monies raised will go towards the campaign.

• Spread the word of this venture amongst the community on WhatsApp groups and through social media, creating awareness and asking our family, friends and neighbours to support the cause.

• Join other local businesses by contributing or donating  prizes for the raffle. Many thanks to all who have donated prizes and sourced prizes from their employers to date.

 

Given the community nature of the campaign we hope that the whole area will get behind it to ensure that it is a success and we look forward to welcoming our friends, both new and old, on what will be a very enjoyable day.
