Holy Family Community School, Rathcoole

Holy Family Community School opened its doors to 73 students in September 1981. It was to cater for 510 students. This represented a
huge achievement for the communities of Rathcoole, Newcastle and Saggart.
Today we have 948 students plus staff and this is why we need to continue to fundraise.
Our vision statement sees our school as a community of students, staff, parents and the Board of Management.
We are committed to developing a community of learners. We believe that education provides opportunity for all. We nurture the well-being of all so that they may grow in knowledge and compassion. We strive to provide a school that promotes academic excellence and enables all students to realise their full potential. Our programmes, curricular and extra-curricular, develop the whole person. These educational objectives are achieved through partnership with parents, national schools and the local community.
We strive for academic excellence and foster a nurturing climate where students can achieve their full potential. Students are encouraged to become lifelong learners and to continue to third level education. We embrace the opportunity to engage with new subjects and now offer Leaving Certificate Computer Science and Leaving Certificate Physical Education.
We are progressive educators and have embraced technology and introduced the iPad as our educational device and Microsoft 365 as our communication and learning platform. We embrace the opportunity to engage with new subjects and now offer Leaving Certificate Computer Science and Leaving Certificate Physical Education.

Students can take part in many co-curricular and extracurricular activities in the school including athletics, soccer, hurling, chess, coding and debating. Many of our students have achieved great success including winning the National Soroptimist Public Speaking Competition and our mathematics students have represented Ireland in the International Linguistics Olympiad.

The importance we place on developing our students as contributing members of society and as global citizens is evident in the programmes and activities we engage in. These include Development Education, Localise and actively fundraising for charity. Engaging in these programmes and activities allows our students to develop the core values which are at the heart of our school; care, respect, community, inclusion, equality, justice and fairness.
