Nasc, Migrant and Refugee Rights

Nasc, the Irish word for 'link' empowers migrants to realise and fulfil their rights. Nasc works with migrants and refugees to advocate and lead for change within Ireland's immigration and protection systems, to ensure fairness, access to justice and the protection of human rights. Our goal is to realise the rights of all migrants and refugees within Irish society.

overview

Nasc provides free, direct services to migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and people from ethnic minority backgrounds. Some of our services include:

1. Advocacy Service - we provide legal information and advocacy to over 1,200 people annually and provide outreach to direct provision and emergency centres in Cork city and county.

2. Women's Project - we provide English language classes as well as integration and employment supports to women who have experienced forced displacement.

3. Children, Families & Young People - our social work-led project provides wraparound supports for young people including unaccompanied minors and those aging out of care. The New Beginnings Children and Family project works with families newly reunited in Ireland to provide social work and prevention of poverty supports.

4. Community Sponsorship - Nasc is a regional support organisation. We work with small community groups who want to sponsor a refugee/refugee family to come to Ireland under the resettlement programme.

5. Ukraine Response - we provide a Ukrainian-language information and advocacy service.

We advocate: Our campaigning priorities are directly related to the issues presenting in our clinics. This gives us a clear evidence base to support our national calls for change.

Outreach, Training & Capacity-building: Nasc works with key stakeholders in the city and country-wide, to provide information and training on immigration law, intercultural awareness, and anti-racism, to promote mainstreaming of migrant-related issues and promote integration and inclusion of migrants and ethnic minorities.
