Domestic Violence Response (DVR) Galway is a rural-based community-led project responding to the issue of domestic violence in Galway City and County.

DVR offers free, one-to-one counselling, information, advocacy, support and court accompaniment to women who are experiencing, or who have experienced, violence or abuse in their homes. Our clients include thewomen who have grown up in abusive homes; the student in her mid-twenties, stalked by her ex-boyfriend; the woman in her early sixties who has spent decades with an abusive partner; the young mother who is trying to separate safely from her violent and controlling partner.   

We see these women every day. We provide them with a supportive and professional service so that they can end the cycle of abuse and rebuild their lives.

The project is managed by the board of directors and a management committee and employs seven part-time workers.
