There is currently no domestic abuse shelter in either Monaghan or Cavan. Government funding has been promised but the refuge will not be in place for a couple of years at least. While this is welcomed, it will be too late for someone who is living in fear in their own home today or tonight.

I am planning ongoing fundraising activities to raise funds for emergency accommodation for those experiencing domestic abuse in Monaghan and Cavan, through existing hotel/B&B/self-catering accommodation and accessed through existing services so as not to duplicate or take away from those services but to complement and enhance them.

The first fundraising activity was my climb of Carrauntoohil on 25th March 2023 along with a group of my business colleagues in the BNI.

This page remains open for personal and corporate donations, all of which go directly to a ring-fenced fund in Tearmann, the Domestic Violence Support Service for Cavan and Monaghan, to be used specifically for emergency accommodation in those counties.
