Hi everyone , we are organising this fundraising page to support the family of young Oliver Scally. Oliver is a beautiful , brave, 19-month old who was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Wiskott Aidrich Syndrome (WAS).

Hi everyone , we are organising this fundraising page to support the family of young Oliver Scally. Oliver is a beautiful , brave, 19-month old who was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Wiskott Aidrich Syndrome (WAS).
WAS is an extremely rare genetic immunodeficiency that effects only up to 4 in every million people ! It causes bleeding due to low platelets in the blood and severe eczema, in addition to susceptibility to infections because of a defective immune system.
At present the only known treatment is a bone marrow transplant. Oliver's sister, Joy, age 8 , is a match and will also undergo a major operation to donate to her dear brother, Oliver.
Unfortunately due to the rarity of WAS this bone marrow transplant is not available in Ireland, so Oliver , Joy and their parents will travel to the Great North Children's hospital, Newcastle, in the UK, for this life saving operation and treatment.
Oliver's diagnosis has been truly heartbreaking for his parents, Aidan and Grace along with his sisters, Sarah, Joy and Roisin.
While Oliver's treatment is covered by the HSE, Aidan and Grace face huge financial pressures over the coming months. Grace has been unable to work since September '23 because of Oliver's health and Aidan is self employed so at times will be unable to work during Oliver's treatment and recovery. The projected timescale for the operation and treatment to recovery is anything from 6 to 12 months. Grace will be staying with Oliver, in Newcastle, during this time, while Aidan will be travelling back and forth to England while also caring for Joy during her recovery and their other daughters at home.
The funds raised will go towards the cost of flights, accommodation, meals, and help keep on top of everyday costs of living for their family and home .
We would be so grateful if you could donate and/share for this worthy cause.
