Charity Cycle in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland
The Clare and Offaly Down Syndrome branches are hoping to benefit from a Charity cycle which a group of cyclists are organising next month.
A joint charity cycle in aid of Down Syndrome Clare and Offaly branches which will take place next month over three days from May 22nd to 24th. The cyclists are hoping that this event will raise much needed funds for the Clare and Offaly Branches as well as other Down Syndrome Branches along the route from Clare to Dublin. The cycle will start at Loop Head in Clare and travel across the country taking in Tullamore and finishing at Howth Head, in Dublin.
Liam Duggan, Clare is the cyclist who is spearheading this event and he will be accompanied by his nephew Shane Kelly and Shane’s sister-in-law Meadhbh Mealiff and they will be representing the Offaly Down Syndrome branch and they will be joined by a number of other cyclists.
The Down Syndrome branches will set up Idonate funds so that people can support this worthy cause online or people can support the collections or sponsorship cards that will be in operation.
They will be cycling from Loop Head in Clare to Howth Head in Dublin which will commence on 22nd May until 24th May 2024. They hope to raise funds for both the Clare and Offaly Down Syndrome branches with other branches also benefiting along the route. Liam is no stranger to cycling and two years ago completed Malin Head to Mizen Head with a group of friends raising money for Cancer. Last November, he took on a Shave or Dye challenge to raise funds for the Clare Down Syndrome branch. He raised over €6,500 by shaving his moustache and dyeing his hair. The hair is back to normal but the moustache is still missing. The cyclists hope to complete the 350km journey in three stages with Stage 1 starting from Loop Head to Gort. Stage 2 will be from Gort to Tullamore and Stage 3 will be from Tullamore to Howth Head.
