Over the past couple of months, LauraLynn have launched a new satellite service in Mallow Co. Cork to provide support for children with life limiting conditions and their families in the southwest of Ireland.

Our family and friends are taking part in a cycling event called “TheGiftofGrace”, which will begin at LauraLynn Children's Hospice in Leopardstown Co. Dublin and finish at the new LauraLynn satellite service in Mallow Co. Cork. The cycling event will be held on the 11th and 12th of August over two days, where we plan to cycle 250 km from Dublin to Cork.

We are fundraising for LauraLynn as they hold a very special place in our hearts. Our Daughter Grace, who was a triplet to her sisters Cara and Chloe, and a younger sister to her brother James, sadly passed away at three months old while under the loving care of LauraLynn. The short and precious time that we had with Grace in LauraLynn is something that we will always be entirely grateful. We treasure the memories that we have of the time we spent together as a family and without LauraLynn this would not have been possible.

LauraLynn gave us the chance to be a family, knowing that Grace would have a short life, they supported us and gave us every chance to make everyday count. Simple day-to-day things, like bringing your daughter for a walk, taking a nap together or giving a bath while Grace was unwell were all made possible, and this gave us strength at the most difficult time.

Grace’s Grandparents, Aunties and Uncles and our friends were able to visit to hold and comfort Grace while under the care of LauraLynn. Being from Dublin, we were so grateful knowing how lucky we were to have a place like this so close to home. However, knowing that LauraLynn is Ireland’s only Children’s Hospice made us think how difficult it must be on other families around Ireland that also have children with life limiting conditions. We were delighted to learn that LauraLynn has set up a satellite service in Mallow Co. Cork that will provide much needed support to families in the southwest, and our family and friends want to support this as much as possible with this being the main reason for our fundraising event.

The main aim of our cycling event is to raise money for LauraLynn. Therefore, we are trying to raise as much sponsorship as possible before completing our cycle. Our goal is to raise €40,000, so every donation or any type of sponsorship would make a huge difference and would get us one step closer to that goal.
