The Rafaella Costin Memorial Swimathon

“Rafaella was a kind and gentle soul who deserves to be remembered forever. She loved swimming and waterpolo, and it was exactly these things she spent her last day doing.

The 5th of December 2021 was a day that we will never forget - it was the day our beautiful little girl left this world. For those of you who don’t know, Rafaella fell ill while playing a game with Drogheda Water Polo Club and was taken to Temple Street Children’s Hospital where she passed away a short time later that evening. We later found out that Rafaella had an abnormality in her heart that could never have been detected.

Rafaella’s sudden passing left a huge void in our lives and we will always cherish and remember her in our hearts. Rafaella had a huge love for life and always enjoyed going swimming and playing water polo. She made great friends and was so fond of all her coaches and mentors whom she spoke so highly of. In her short 13 years she had an impact on her family, friends, and community that will never be forgotten.” - The Costin Family

Drogheda Water Polo Club have decided to organise The Rafaella Costin Memorial Swimathon to ensure that this beautiful soul will never be forgotten.

All funds raised here will be split evenly between Drogheda Water Polo Club and the A&E Department at Temple Street Children's Hospital where Rafaella was taken on the evening she fell ill.
