Why Straightahead - The reason we have chosen this charity is my colleagues wife went through a major operation almost 1yr ago to correct her spine and thankfully it has been a great success. My colleague indicated that whilst his wife was undergoing the surgery it struck him just how fortunate he was to be able to avail of the company’s health insurance to cover the costs of the operation but unfortunately for a large no. of young children and families this is not feasible.

Straight Ahead is a medical support group, affiliated to the Children’s Medical Research Foundation which provides surgery, support and medical equipment for time critical children on HSE waiting lists. These children have severe or life threatening cases of Scoliosis which is a curvature of the spine. Waiting in not an option -Children with major orthopedic problems are often forced to wait for much needed surgery which would significantly and rapidly change their lives for the better. Straight Ahead aims to help these ‘time-critical’ cases who are deteriorating while on HSE waiting lists.
