We are a group of four part-time students from UCD Michael Smurfit Project Management who are passionate about preventing the current homelessness crisis gripping Ireland. We believe that the work being carried out by Daisyhouse in this area is urgently required to remedy the homelessness situation. We have partnered with Daisyhouse in undertaking a number of fundraising initiatives to raise critical funds and awareness.
Based in Dublin, Daisyhouse is a charity that works to support people out of homelessness. People become homeless due to addiction, mental illness, relationship breakdown, sexual violence and sexual abuse. Sadly, it’s normally a combination of these horrific traumas. Daisyhouse provides temporary accommodation and an 18-month individually tailored program to empower people to move forward, achieving independence and sustainable living. Acting as a guardian for homeless individuals for 29 years, Daisyhouse has accommodated those people that society may have left behind. With a 96% success rate for residents not falling back into the homelessness cycle, the program provides homeless people a true glimmer of hope and the chance for a vibrant future.
Our event, “Rollathon for Daisyhouse”, will take place on Saturday 7th April 2018 in St. Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre from 10am to 6pm. The aim is to raise much needed funds and awareness for Daisyhouse by cycling 600km on stationary bikes, the equivalent of cycling from Malin to Mizen Head!
