This house is a sign of the progress and hope for people with disabilities in Belarus. Help us get one step closer to providing a new home.

Each year we have a fundraiser at the end of April to mark the anniversary of the tragic Chernobyl disaster. Last year we raised funds to send a truck full of humanitarian aid to Belarus. This year we would love to raise €2,000 to fund the plumbing for the new house for independent living in Gorodishche Orphanage, Belarus. This house is a huge symbol of the progress being made for young people with disabilities in Belarus. Only in recent years has it been recognised that people with disabilities are capable of living independently and have been given the right to do so. This house will be an incredible facility to train greater numbers of young adults and teenagers, to prepare them to go to professional college where they can learn a trade and start their new independent lives. This house is a sign of hope. Please help us make this dream a reality.

Here are the young people in their Life Skills class. A part of the Independent Living programme. Being institutionalised from such young ages these young people need to learn skills from all aspects of life. In attending these classes they will learn a multitude of skills and lessons. Some young people get to participate in this class in preparation for entering the Independent Living Programme. We are completely blown away by the generosity shown by so many people over the last few weeks. Let's see if we can make it to €7,000! Donations will close on Friday.

Wow! We are already over a third of the way toward our target to fund the plumbing for the Independent Living house in Gorodishche Orphange. Thank you! Спасибо!! In this programme the young people learn many skills including the growing, preparing and cooking of foods. Here are Sergey and Natasha cleaning the mushrooms their fellow residents have been hard at work preparing. So many skills to learn in this seemingly simple task, from working as a team and communication skills to preparing a meal from scratch.
