'We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone'
In September 2021 we will leave Achill on the west coast of Ireland and travel over 5,000 kilometres by bike until we reach Athens, Greece. We're doing this in an effort to raise funds for Pieta House and Bodywhys (the eating disorder association of Ireland).
My mental health is something that I have battled with for years and like most people, I continue to be a work in progress. I'm lucky enough to be able to say that I can manage things and keep my headspace in check. However my body image and disorderly eating habits is something I'm only recently coming to terms with. Something I've only really opened up about in recent times. My relationship with food has been particularly troublesome the last number of years, with a restrictive/binge pattern a common part of my being. Struggles with body image goes hand in hand with this. As a male this has been particularly confusing and at times isolating. It has proved to be a profound challenge to overcome with psychotherapy sessions a part of my life in the last year.
I've witnessed the inner turmoil mental health and body image issues can cause and I want to do the best I can to help people who may be experiencing the same torment.
We would be beyond grateful if you can help these two amazing organisations by donating whatever you can or simply sharing the challenge we're undertaking. Alternatively if you know of anyone or any company who may be able to help please don't hesitate to contact us.
Thanks as always,
Cormac, Stephen & Niall
