Latest Update !!

Funds needed to continue to support Gorodishche & Cherven with essential medical & nutritional needs at this difficult & uncertain time.

Story

***UPDATE 24/4/20

Despite best efforts our worst fears have become a reality. Multiple cases of Covid 19 have been confirmed in two of the institutions we support with immunocompromised children, elderly adults and many staff members battling this horrid virus.
Cherven is home to 280 children and young people with physical and intellectual disabilities and Kyl is home to 500 people the vast majority are elderly and disabled.

The situation is critical. Brave staff are fighting for the most vulnerable people in society in desperate conditions. Many are now working a full 2 week shift to avoid cross contamination with other shifts. This is exhausting and dangerous work in buildings that don't allow for social distancing.
They need and deserve PPE.
They need and deserve access to basic medical essentials such as thermometers.
They need and deserve sanitation equipment.
They need and deserve the best fighting chance.
They need us.
They need you!

Please please if you can, make a donation to this link. If you are unable to do so please share with your family and friends, colleagues, neighbours, communities, everyone.

All monies raised will go directly towards this essential equipment needed in these affected institutions.

The outpour of support and love these past few days has been overwhelming but we still need to keep pushing, for all of them, the staff, and the vulnerable children and elderly adults.

Thank you one and all. ❤️🌻

This page was originally set up to raise funds to help with the continuous running costs and expenses of our medical, nutritional and social programmes we run annually. These programmes were in jeapordy because all volunteer trips to Gorodishche and Cherven have been cancelled for the foreseeable future, also because of new restrictions any public fundraisers we'd planned cannot go ahead. Unfortunately because the situation has become critical now we can't even afford to think of these programmes as now it is a matter of saving and protecting lives. We thank you all for your donations, how ever big or small, they will all help us immeasruably help the most vulnerable.

Thank you, go raibh mle maith agaibh, Спасибо вам всем.

All funds raised here will go directly to those directly affected.
I hope you can help by donating whatever you can. Simply click the Donate button above. All donations are processed securely.
You can also share this page using Share options below. This is a great way to show your support.
Many Thanks for your support.

"Sometimes a silent hug is the only thing to say" Watching Italian families reunite on the news last night was powerful. Missing our loved ones is one of the most difficult parts of these past weeks and months. We would give anything to be with our little friends in Cherven right now, to reassure and comfort them during this scary time. Unfortunately that won't be a possibility for a long time but in the meantime we're doing the best we can from here to support them from afar. Thank you for all your support these past two weeks. Thanks to your generosity we have been able to supply Cherven, Kyl and many more institutions with essential equipment and supplies to help them in their fight to save and protect the lives of hundreds of vulnerable children and elderly people. Please continue to spread the word, there's a long road ahead yet. Thank you again.

We have been overwhelmed by the news of late, by numbers and statistics from across the country and all over the world. These can sometimes disconnect us from of the faces and stories behind them. Allow us to introduce Kirill and Vanya who live in Cherven. They are two happy boys who love getting up to mischief! The money you are donating, the posts you have shared, it's these boys, these cheeky chappies you are supporting. Providing them and their carers with the correct equipment and PPE is critical and time sensitive. We cannot thank you enough for all that you've done in these past few days. Please keep it up, for Kirill, Vanya and all their friends.

Today marks 34 years since an invisible enemy spread across the world. Belarus bore the brunt of the pain then, and now faces another battle, one we are all familiar with but it is especially cruel to our most vulnerable friends. Br. Liam OMeara (BCP Director) has written a few words to reflect upon today. 2020 CHERNOBYL ANNIVERSARY Now perhaps we know Perhaps we understand a little better. How Chernobyl radiation spread quietly through Belarus. When no one knew. When no one told. Now perhaps we know Perhaps we understand a little better What it is like to spend your life locked away, even if that is in your own home. And other people make all the decisions over your life. Now perhaps we dont know Perhaps we do not understand at all How Masha and Artium and Sergei and all the others Can tell us: ??? ????? ??????! All will be well! ? Volunteers/Supporters Our target is not just thousands of euro. Our target is to keep the virus out of Gorodishche! -Br. Liam O'Meara Covid 19 has caused hurt and pain throughout the world these past months. It has caused society to adapt, borders to close and countries to come to a stand still. As days turned into weeks and weeks turn into months, we are all beginning to get frustrated. We miss our old lives, we miss family, friends, work. We miss going to the cinema and the gym. We don't know when, but we hope life will return to normal soon. This fear, this unknown has many anxious and scared. We're in uncharted waters. For our friends in Belarus, the situation is critical. The sheer enormity of which is still unknown. These institutions have limited PPE, limited medical equipment, limited sanitation equipment, immunocompromised children and elderly people, positive Covid 19 case numbers increasing daily, no space for physical distancing in dense living conditions and no one to turn to. Our target is not to reach a certain amount of money, our target, our hope, our will is to save lives, to prevent Covid 19 from reaching new places and stopping it from spreading further in the orphanages and asylums already affected. For this we need your support. Please if you can, donate. If you're unable to, that's no problem but please please share with all your loved ones. They are relying on us. Thank you. #UNChernobylDay

The heartbreaking news continues to flood in. We have three more adult asylums with residents testing positive for COVID 19, they are in desperate need of support. Yazovki is home to 250 people, Pukhavichi 420 and Svir 150. These people either have a disability or are elderly or are both. Meaning they all fall into the vulnerable categories. With numbers this high you can imagine the dense living conditions making social distancing impossible. Life in these places can be quite difficult at the best of times. The needs in these institutions are particularly acute, neither the staff nor the residents have appropriate protection, the protection they deserve. Again, we ask for your help. In any way, we understand everyone is financially pressed as this time but we've seen the power of social media so if you can please share this with everyone. The more that are aware of the critical situation the more hope we have of helping. Thank you.

It has been a long and emotional day, at the end of an intense and challenging week. And yet, above all the emotions we're feeling, we are over come with hope. These children and elderly adults are forgotten by society. We love them, we love them dearly and we would go to the ends of the earth for them but we are small in numbers and unfortunately limited by this. But you, in your droves, you have a fierce power and by God did you display it today. Most of you don't know these people, a lot of you hadn't even heard of Cherven or Kyl before today. Yet you heard a cry for help and you listened, you answered, and you shouted from the rooftops. This is still only the beginning of a lengthy battle, and tomorrow we will push on again but tonight we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Go raibh mle maith agaibh. ??????? ??? ???????. ??
