The third and final day was absolutely beautiful! We live in a truly stunning part of the world. If nothing else I hope this will result in more people discovering The Sligo Way and our lovely county. The first leg this morning began with two new walkers Graham Hewston and Michael Casey. Unfortunately, towards the end we had to split up as Patrick had to get into town for the funeral of Lloyd Sweetnam. The final leg from Slish Wood to Dromahair saw Myrtle Bamber and Rio join the team. Highlights were the view of Lough Gill from the board walk, the Lake Isle of Innisfree and the delightful windy little roads leading to the time weathered ruins of Creevelea Abbey. Thank you to everyone who has helped us and all those who have sponsored us, both online and with cash. It's all for an excellent cause - the Diocese of Kindu in DR Congo.
07 Aug 2020What a great day! Beautiful weather and lovely scenery. We were joined by Jennifer Bourke in Coolaney and then by Clara, Pam and Una on our way into Collooney. Wonderful support! Rio, the walk mascot, had a great day but was VERY tired by the end. 55 km done. Hopefully just 25 more to do tomorrow. Get in touch on Carla's phone or by email if you want to meet up with us tomorrow for the last leg.
05 Aug 2020Day one is now finished! It was a good start in terms of walking. We finished 1 1/2 hours before time, but we were also very wet! The route is well signed and passes through beautiful scenery which you can admire, even in the rain.
