On July 6th, I will start the 2,400km cycle that is the Wild Atlantic Way, beginning in Derry and working my way south to Cork, camping en route, mostly by myself with the occasional pal dropping in.
The plan is twofold:
- to raise awareness/funds for youth mental health charity Jigsaw (target of €2,400, €1 for every km)
- To team up with the Conscious Cup Campaign to increase awareness around waste prevention and highlight cafés along the WAW accepting reusable cups.
I chose Jigsaw because they tackle mental health issues at the early stages, their services act almost as preventative measures, catching people in early stages of ill mental health whilst also educating teachers, parents etc on the area. As the cycle is 2,400km, I am aiming to raise €2,400, and am asking people to donate €1/km.
As I am a Climate Ambassador this year and having worked as a barista for a long long time, I decided to partner with the Conscious Cup Campaign . Throughout my journey, I will be highlighting independent cafés accepting reusable cups.
I'll be documenting my journey on my Instagram page, @lucius_lune.
I would really really appreciate any and all donations but the aim is also to open up the conversation around mental health and eco-anxiety so any and all sharing on social media would be a wonderful support also!
All funds raised here will go directly to this great cause.
