In January 2016, 11-year-old Milly Tuomey died by suicide. Devastated by her sudden death, Milly’s mother Fiona searched for a suicide support group in Dublin to help her with her grief but could not find one. So, in 2017, the first HUGG group was setup. As the demand for new groups grew, and after deep discussions and research , HUGG was established on 10 February 2018, Milly’s birthday.
Today, HUGG is small team with a big heart and a welcoming HUGG with nation wide support groups providing a free, safe and confidential space where people bereaved by suicide can share their experiences and feelings.
