I've been a big admirer of the work that DEBRA Ireland do to support patients with EB and their families for several years. So, I'm doing something a little bit different for my birthday weekend this year: DEBRA Ireland's Kerry Challenge.
Day one, Friday 19th May: Hike from Dun Chaoin (Dunquin) to Baile an nGall (Ballydavid). 19km with an ascent of 158m & 155m descent.
Day two, Saturday 20th May: Hike from Glennahoo to Annascaul. 17.8km with an ascent of 473m and 492m descent.
You might have heard of EB (epidermolysis bullosa) as the butterfly skin disease. It's a rare genetic skin blistering condition, 1 in 18,000 children born in Ireland are affected by it. DEBRA Ireland will use the funds raised to provide family support services, research potential treatments and advocate on behalf of people with EB. You can find out more about the work that they do on their website.
Please donate if you can. Every euro raised will be matched by the charity's sponsor so your donation will go further!
