Acquired Brain Injury Ireland is Irelands leading provider in community based neuro-rehabilitation for people who have suffered an acquired brain injury. An acquired brain injury (ABI) can be caused by a road accident, assault, fall, viral infection, aneurysm, anoxia, brain haemorrhage, stroke or tumour. Approximately 10-13,000 people suffer from a head injury in Ireland each year and face a dramatically altered life thereafter. People with ABI progress at different rates, and may need to acces
ALONE believes in a society where all older people are included as valued and empowered members of their communities.
On the 24th of May Fraser Holden was diagnosed with MND (Motor Neuron Disease). The diagnosis has had a devastating impact on Fraser, his wife Orlagh and their daughter Oonagh. Motor Neurone Disease is an incurable condition that causes the progressive degeneration of the nerve cells that control the muscles. Ever since his diagnosis Fraser has poured all his energy into raising money to find a cure and we, his family and friends, are with him every step of the way.
