In September 2021 I was lucky enough to take part in Rory's Miles to Mayo with rugby legend Rory Best, where he walked from Daisy Lodge Newcastle, Co Down, to the stunning site on the banks of Loch Cong, where his outstanding efforts will help build Daisy Lodge, Mayo. Daisy Lodge, will be a therapeutic facility which will provide vital, restorative short breaks for children suffering with cancer and their families. To take part in that massive challenge and to evidence the immense work of Rory and the wonderful charity, Cancer Fund For Children, was truly humbling and inspiring. As Rory said as he addressed the welcoming crowd in Cong,
"the walk to Cong may be over , but the journey to Daisy Lodge, Mayo has just begun".
True to his word and to that end on 16th May Rory is stepping up again. I am walking with him and many others and we will walk from the Aviva Stadium, on to Crumlin Children's Hospital, The Curragh Racecourse, Thomond Park, The Sports Grounds in Galway and eventually some 320Km later, we will arrive at the site of the New Daisy Lodge. Rory's target this year is a further €2M to add to the €1M raised from the 2021 walk.
Your support for Rory's Miles 2 Mayo can play a vital part in opening the doors of Daisy Lodge, in Cong, Co Mayo by summer of 2025.
May I thank you sincerely in advance of any contribution you might consider.
