Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page on iDonate.ie. I am taking part in the Frances Thornton Memorial Galway Bay Swim 2023 on Saturday 9th September. It was originally scheduled for the 15th July, postponed to the 19th August and now re-scheduled again due to adverse weather conditions. I've togged in many a rough swell but due to a small craft warning it had to be postponed so maintaining focus has been an additional challenge. The chosen charity is Cancer Care West . All funds raised here will go directly to this great cause. I hope you can help me by donating whatever you can, no amount is too big or too small. The swim traverses Galway Bay - a distance of 10.5 kms. Depending on the prevailing weather conditions on the day you could cover anything between 12 to 13 kms. To add to the challenge I will be swimming in togs so depending on the wind and currents, the jellyfish, motion sickness and keeping my pace steady but working hard enough to avoid getting too cold I could be looking at anything between 4 to 6 hours in the water.
