I'm taking part in Irish Life Dublin Marathon.
I’ve never been much of a runner. The most I’ve ever ran before was 5km so I thought taking part in the Dublin marathon would be quite the challenge.
The reason I have decided to take on this challenge is in memory of my Mum, Tash, who passed away from cancer four years ago. I saw what she had to go through and the strength she had to show to go through all the treatments for as long as she did.
Any of the pain caused from training for a marathon, when compared to what my Mum and many other cancer patients and families alike have gone through, is really incomparable.
Whenever I may be struggling or want to give up, the thought of what my Mum had to go through really puts things in perspective and will hopefully give me the strength to go on!
So any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated, not just by me, but by all of the struggling families ARC Cancer Support Centres are helping through their services.
Thanks all, Hugo
